Welcome To Your Windows Computer!
Welcome To Your Windows Computer!
We have a few things to let you know:
This computer belongs to you - you can make any changes you want to it to make it your own.
While we cannot provide support for the computer forever, we expect it to work for a reasonable period. If you are in the Chicago suburban area, and if the computer stops working or has problems, you can contact us via email: compconn@willowcreek.org
This computer has been refurbished and pre-installed with Windows 11 Professional, and Libre Office, which is a free Microsoft Office compatible software suite.
To the best of our knowledge, this computer has been disconnected from any previous owner's management systems or software. However unlikely, it is possible that if a previous owner had installed remote management software, they could wipe and/or disable this computer remotely. We recommend logging into the computer with a Microsoft Account so you can take advantage of Microsoft's online services, such as OneDrive. We also recommend using an external device like a USB drive to backup your files and data.
We have set up this computer with two local user accounts: A user account with a login of User and an administrator account with a login of Admin. Both accounts have been setup with no password. When you perform certain functions in Windows, such as installing new software, Windows may display a prompt and ask for a password. Leave the password field empty and click the "OK" or "YES" button, or just hit Enter.

Windows will periodically update itself automatically. This will keep Windows up to date with the latest security patches and bug fixes. We recommend allowing the system to apply any updates it needs to.
Some of the software that we install may display ads or requests to upgrade to a paid version of their software, such as Cleaner. If this is annoying, you can remove the software. The software that we installed is free and you do not need to pay any ongoing cost for any software.
You must provide Internet access for the computer, if you plan to access the Internet. Laptops can access the Internet using wireless/Wi-Fi. To do this, you must be in an area that broadcasts a wireless signal. If you plan to access the Internet at home, you must sign up with an Internet company, such as infinity, AT&T, Astound or some similar company.
The Inventory Sheet that comes with your computer has basic information about the computer's specs. If you need to know the amount of memory, hard drive size or CPU speed, you can find them here, or by looking in Windows.
Our prayer is that you know that Jesus loves you and cares about you. We hope that this computer may be one small way that He blesses you, and that you find the hope and faith that we all need.
Sincerely,
The Comp Conn Team
